Na wystawie podsumowującej projekt A Place Where We Could Go Krïstïan zaprezentuje część swoich prac powstałych w Bytomiu – mieście, którego nazwa w tłumaczeniu na język norweski oznacza „puste miasto”. Abstrakcyjne obrazy, wykonane w różnych technikach, pozornie wyglądaja na efekt przypadku. Artysta naśladując proces ciemni fotograficznej wykonuje motyw palcem na papierze pokrytym atramentem, następnie wstawia dzieło pod strumień wody, prowokując reakcję płynącego tuszu z konkretnym wyobrażeniem stworzonym przez przeczucie. Powstałe w ten sposób niepokojące obrazy mogą być odczytywane jako lustro nastrojów, psychicznych wahań artysty zapadającego się w pustkę przestrzeni miasta, w którym się znalazł. Jak komentuje artysta: „te obrazy skupiają się na stracie, śmierci lecz także marzeniach".

KRÏSTÏAN SKYLSTAD (ur.1982) - artysta wizualny, fotograf, galernik, kurator, prozaik, krytyk sztuki. Ostatnie trzy lata poświęcił na pracę nad pełnometrażowym dokumentem „Przemoc ciszy”, opowiadającym o następstwach wojny w Wietnamie. Od roku prowadzi galerię NoPlace (Oslo), wraz z Stian Gabrielsen, Petter Buhagen i Karen Nikgol.

Wystawa A Place Where We Could Go to premierowa odsłona ośmiu autonomicznych projektów (wystaw) Magdy Fabiańczyk, Erli S. Haralsdóttir, Larsa Holdhusa i Frederika Gruyaerta, Rafała Jakubowicza, Darri Lorenzena, Łukasza Skąpskiego, Krïstïana Skylstada, Łukasza Surowca oraz dokumentacja wcześniej zrealizowanej pracy site-specific Pawła Kulczyńskiego. Wszystkie są wynikiem rezydencji artystycznych na terenie Górnego Śląska i Zagłębia Dąbrowskiego.

At the exhibition summing up the project A Place Where We Could Go, Krïstïan will present the rest of his works created in Bytom – a town whose name translates into Norwegian as ‘empty town’. Abstract paintings, produced in a variety of techniques, appear to have been made at random. Simulating the process that takes place in the photographer’s darkroom, the artist draws patterns on a piece of paper with his finger dipped in ink, then places the work under a stream of water, provoking the reaction of the ink running off with the concrete image created by a feeling. The disquieting images thus created can be interpreted as a mirror of emotions, a psychological see-saw of an artist’ sinking into the void of the city space in which he has found himself. As the artist himself comments, ‘These images focus on loss and death, but also on dreaming’.

KRÏSTÏAN SKYLSTAD (born 1982) – a visual artist, photographer, gallery owner, curator, prosaist, art critic. He has devoted the last three years to working on a feature film Violence of Silence, about the consequences of the Vietnam war. Since last year, he has been running the NoPlace Gallery in Oslo together with Stian Gabrielsen, Petter Buhagen i Karen Nikgol.

The exhibition A Place Where We Could Go is the premiere showing of eight autonomous projects (exhibitions) by Magda Fabiańczyk, Erla S. Haralsdóttir, Lars Holdhusa and Frederik Gruyaert, Rafał Jakubowicz, Darri Lorenzen, Łukasz Skąpski, Krïstïan Skylstad and Łukasz Surowiec as well as the documentation of the site-specific work by Paweł Kulczyński prepared earlier. All the projects are the result of artistic residencies in Upper Silesia and the Dąbrowa Basin.
