Książka "A Place Where We Could Go"

Tytuł A Place Where We Could Go, zapożyczony z piosenki Jeremy'ego Jaya, jest nazwą części międzynarodowego programu Projekt Metropolis współorganizowanego przez Fundację Imago Mundi i CSW Kronika w Bytomiu.

The title A Place Where We Could Go, borrowed from a song by Jeremy Jay, has become the name of one part of the international Project Metropolis, organised jointly by the Imago Mundi Foundation and CSW Kronika in Bytom. The book with the same title documents the activities of artists who took part in the eponymous
project in Upper Silesia and the Dąbrowa Basin: their encounters with local communities, the past and present of the region as well as with other artists. The activities of the project focused on discovering, as the title suggests, places to which we could go in order to explore them and get to know them. The programme employs art as a cognitive tool and begins a discourse about stereotyped places with a complex identity, simultaneously highlighting the forgotten, mental zones of Upper Silesia and the Dąbrowa Basin and sketching a new iconography of the region.

The publication does not attempt to be a homogenous entity. It is a compilation of autonomous projects of various artists, accompanied by texts produced by guests; as such, it is a unique testimony to the bringing together of diverse groups for whom art has proved to be social glue.
